Home Away from Home
It’s summertime which means I’m off to another travel adventure. This summer, I’m in Paris and like many other destinations, I seem to have a ritual that I follow when I arrive to get into the groove of things. Here are some of the things I like to do that help me connect and…
Wine by One Wine Bar (8e)- CLOSED
If you are looking for the place to meet with friends for casual conversation or before a fun-filled night out on the town, Wine by One is definitely “the one”.
“Les Fines Gueules” Wine Bar (1er)
Housed in an elegant space of a historic 17th century building near the renowned Palais Royale, Les Fines Gueules offers a cozy and relaxed setting to enjoy a glass of wine and if you so desire, some charcuterie (assortment of cured meats, pâté, bread, and cheese). The wine bar is also just down the street from Galeries Vivienne and Place des Victoires and makes for a perfect stop after hours spent strolling and window shopping.
Ô Chateau Wine Bar (1er)
Ô Chateau for me is like an old friend. It was here that I was first introduced to the Parisian wine bar experience, and from the very beginning, I felt a connection right away. Pain. Vin. Fromages (4e)
The aromas coming from Pain. Vin. Fromages, while literally about 1/2 a block away, are especially captivating and tempting to say the least. In fact, this is how I found the cozy family-style restau (as the French call restaurants) owned by two brothers in the Marais district.
Willi’s Wine Bar (1er)
For over 30 years, Willi’s Wine Bar in Paris’ 1st Arrondissement, has welcomed locals and visitors alike with a delightful selection of wines by the glass and by the bottle. The motto here….diversity, individuality, and natural beauty.
Bonjour de Paris!
It has been said that there are people who are peaches, fuzzy on the outside with a hard pit in the center. Then there are those who are the coconuts- hard shell with a sweet interior. I first heard this saying on an episode of Samantha Brown’s Passport to Europe, where a Frenchman gave her some…
