Trentodoc: Italian Sparkling Wine

For those who enjoy the more sophisticated bubbles such as Champagne (meaning from Champagne, France) you have to try Trentodoc! This is a sparkling wine from the Trentino region of northern Italy, as if you’re heading towards Austria. In fact the Dolomites mountainous region where the vineyards are located reminds me of the landscape in Innsbruck.

Ellena Giuseppe- Langhe Nascetta DOC

The other day while at Savvy Cellars shopping for wine, I was looking for a drier style Italian white. Richard, the ¨wine guy¨ at Savvy’s recommended this bottle. It is from northern Italy’s Piemonte/Piedmont region, more specifically the DOC (Denominazione di origine controllata) vineyard area of Langhe. The grape varietal is 100% Nascetta, a relatively unknown Langhe white grape.

Rosé Tasting at Savvy’s

This was a wine tasting that I learned about through happenstance. I was at Savvy Cellars shopping for my ¨weekend¨ wine when I overheard a conversation between a customer and an employee about an upcoming rosé tasting the following day. Fromage Tasting in Buckhead

The last time I had a cheese course like this was at Place Maubert in Paris’ Latin Quarter, at the Fromagerie Laurent Dubois. It was there that I had my first education of the various cheese regions of France, the different styles, flavors and wine pairings for each variety. Then came the Cheeses of Europe tasting event in Atlanta, and I felt like once again I was taking a journey through France.

Fort Myers at Sunset

Just about 45 minutes from Sanibel Island and/or from Naples, Fort Myers is an easy day trip for visitors to either one of those popular South Florida destinations. Fort Myers is known for its beaches, fishing, shopping, and the opportunity to learn about two of the nation’s most famed inventors and business leaders- Thomas Edison and Henry Ford.

Captiva & Sanibel Islands

Captiva and Sanibel Islands are two of the most beautiful destinations in the Southwest Florida area. They are only a short distance from one another, just across the bridge. My family lives in Florida and together we visited both as a day trip from Miami.
