Ellena Giuseppe- Langhe Nascetta DOC

The other day while at Savvy Cellars shopping for wine, I was looking for a drier style Italian white. Richard, the ¨wine guy¨ at Savvy’s recommended this bottle. It is from northern Italy’s Piemonte/Piedmont region, more specifically the DOC (Denominazione di origine controllata) vineyard area of Langhe. The grape varietal is 100% Nascetta,  a relatively unknown Langhe white grape.

I love this wine! Its bright citrus flavors with a touch of lemongrass aromas are refreshing on a warm sunny day. It is full bodied and dry. Not only can this wine be enjoyed at the present, but apparently this one also gets better with age. A must-try for lovers of textural dry whites!

Food matches for Nascetta include:

  • Asparagus and mozzarella bake

  • Grilled squid with lemon and garlic

  • Seared scallops with fennel salad
