Day Trip to Innsbruck
One of the things I love best about Europe is their rail system. With so many lines and fast trains that go in different directions, one can very easily travel throughout Bavaria and beyond during their stay in Munich. For this occasion, I chose the Alpine destination of Innsbruck, Austria, less than 2 hours away from…
Rhum Agricole Tasting
This was my first rum tasting and apparently my friends and I landed upon a good one. Formerly known as Domaine de l’Acajou, Habitation Clément located on the island of Martinique, is the birthplace of Rhum Agricole and carries the culture of an ancient Créole sugarcane plantation rich with French West Indian history.
Fashion Exhibit at the Swan House
Fashion in Good Taste is the latest exhibit on display at the Atlanta History Center’s Swan House. Each room of the estate built in 1928 presents a decade of Atlanta fashion spanning the 1920s to the 1960s. From the military-style uniforms of World War II Red Cross workers, to the sequined drop-waist dresses of Jazz Age flappers, the exhibit tells Atlanta’s past through fashion for each of the decades.
The House of Martell Cognac Tasting
As soon as I saw this event listed on the Tower Tasting Room website, I knew that I wanted to be front and center, ready to try these different Cognacs. I was at the bar Le Baudelaire during a summer trip to Paris when I first heard of the House of Martell. Le Baudelaire is a chic and elegant Champagne & Cognac bar located at…
Camus Cognac Tasting
A true Cognac tasting. The first of its kind, at least that I’ve seen, since living in Atlanta. There was an event some years ago by the French American Chamber of Commerce where there were samples of Cognac for people to try. But a sit-down, class format where a presenter talked about the history, the producer, the appellations, and different styles of Cognac…this was a unique experience.
In-home tasting series: Finger Lakes Wine Region
This is a wine tasting that I had been looking forward to from the moment when I first saw it announced. Until then, I had only tasted domestic wines from California, Oregon and some from Washington. But wines from the Finger Lakes area were unfamiliar to me and I was eager to learn something about.
Champagne & Chocolat Soirée at the Alliance Française
This is one of my favorite annual events at the Alliance Française. It’s a special occasion where you get to pull out that petite robe noire (little black dress), meet up with friends, and party the night away over Champagne and luxury chocolates.
yebo
After several hours spent holiday shopping at the bustling Lenox Square in Atlanta, having a glass of wine in a cozy wine bar was the perfect way to take a pause on this cool and rainy afternoon. Yebo, which I learned can be translated to mean, “Hey, how’s it going?” in Zulu, is located just across the street from Lenox Square at Phipps Plaza. What’s unique about this place is the wine list features wines from South Africa.
