Asheville Wine Bars
Asheville, North Carolina….While this quaint and charming town is best known for the spectacular Biltmore House, formerly the Châteauesque-style country home of the Vanderbilt family, Downtown Asheville is a fun attraction in itself. There you’ll find inviting cafes, chocolate boutiques, restaurants, shops and even a few wine bars, all within walking distance of one another.
The Biltmore. Not to be confused with the Biltmore
Over the Christmas holidays, my friend Sue and I took a trip to Asheville, North Carolina for the Candlelight Christmas Evenings at the Biltmore. Since I first visited the estate with my mom one summer several years ago, I have heard that the tour is even more spectacular at Christmastime with all of the beautiful…
Pooch Parcs in Paris
If you’re like me and would never dream of leaving your little pooch behind when traveling to Paris, you will definitely want to know which jardins and parcs little Fifi (fee-fee) or Fido will be allowed to sniff the roses. While many places in this amazing city are dog-friendly, contrary to common belief, not everywhere…
In home tasting event: Wines of Burgundy
Have you ever hosted or attended an in-home wine tasting? There’s something special about sharing great wines with friends in a small, intimate setting. I first met my friend Jeff at another incredible Burgundy tasting at Vino Venue just a few months back. He had mentioned that he enjoys inviting others for private tastings at his home. I said to let me know when he does another one, as I would love to attend sometime. So when I saw the Burgundy event listed, I thought not only would I love to participate, but what a great occasion would this be for our French group to learn about French wines.
Paris on Peachtree
Bienvenue (welcome back), Paris! The Louvre returns to Atlanta, this time bringing with it the Art of the Louvre’s Tuileries Garden. This exhibition brings Paris to Peachtree Street, with picturesque boxed holly trees on the piazza, Impressionist paintings, and sculptures from the Tuileries garden never before seen in the United States. The exhibit also presents…
“French for a While” with Deborah Lee Johnson
It all started when I was on VRBO, the vacation rental website, searching for my next place of stay in Paris. I had not too long ago returned from the City of Light and was missing it already. Comme d’habitude (as usual), I started browsing through apartments dreaming of my next visit to Paris. But for a change…
European Wine Festival @ the Alliance Française & Goethe Zentrum
It’s that time of year again, when wine enthusiasts come together for this tasting event hosted by the Alliance Française, Goethe Zentrum, and Consulates General of Switzerland and Greece. At this annual soirée, guests have an opportunity to discover some European wines rarely made available for sale in the United States, such as styles from Switzerland that I only get to experience at this gathering. This is also a fun occasion to enjoy a multicultural mix of people and languages, as well as an incredible selection of wines and tasty bites. Here are some photos from the 15th annual European wine festival.
An Evening in Sicily
When I first met Miguel at one of the monthly French groups in Atlanta, one of the topics he spoke passionately about was his oven. While I politely listened to his conversation, I secretly wondered, “Well what on earth could be so remarkable about an oven?” I then asked, “So is this a custom built wood-burning oven or something?” When he answered yes, I then became curious.
