Paris on Peachtree

Bienvenue (welcome back), Paris! The Louvre returns to Atlanta, this time bringing with it the Art of the Louvre’s Tuileries Garden. This exhibition brings Paris to Peachtree Street, with picturesque boxed holly trees on the piazza, Impressionist paintings, and sculptures from the Tuileries garden never before seen in the United States. The exhibit also presents pieces from the D’Orsay and Carnavalet Museums in Paris and includes works from Camille Pissarro, Édouard Manet, Henri Cartier-Bresson, and others who have taken inspiration from the iconic Parisian landmark.

In celebration of Paris on Peachtree, the Théâtre du Rêve together with the High Museum and Serenbe Playhouse, on Saturday November 16th brought “Culture Shock”, an evening of music, cocktails, an outdoor performance and a Parisian-inspired fashion show on the piazza, the High’s version of the Tuileries Gardens. For those who missed this special occasion, be sure to catch one of the two upcoming performances- December 19th and January 16th both at 6:30pm. The Louvre’s Tuileries exhibit goes through January 19, 2014 and is a must-see for both those who have traveled to Paris and is especially a treat for those who have never been to the Louvre, D’Orsay or Carnavalet galleries!
