Orlando, Florida: More to the Story than Disney
Orlando is an awesome city! The people are really friendly and the sunshine and blue skies makes being there all the more delightful. Its location being in central Florida also makes for an easy road trip from other major cities such as Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Tampa, and even Atlanta. But too often, all of the things I enjoy most about Orlando are overshadowed by Mickey Mouse & friends…
Orlando Wine Bars
Orlando offers an amazing wine scene. From the small, family-owned cafés to the ultra-glamorous wine bars in some of the most exclusive neighborhoods, there is something here for everybody. I’ve divided the list into wine bars near the major tourist attractions and those others located in Orlando neighborhoods. Happy tasting!
Rome, Georgia
My travel friend Corey loves watching television, especially travel shows. When he’s not watching Rick Steves Europe, he’s watching Georgia Traveler on PBS. It was there he first heard about Rome, Georgia. Naturally, he invited a couple of friends, myself included, to go out and explore together. And naturally, I gladly accepted the invitation.
The Little Wine Shop (Avondale Estates)
Located in the historic district of Avondale Estates near Decatur, Georgia, The Little Wine Shop introduces small boutique-style wines in a welcoming and charming atmosphere. Here, you’ll find a diverse selection of old world and new world wines and the prices are just as sweet and welcoming as the knowledgeable staff who’s there to help you.
Burgundy Wine Tasting at Vino Venue
Another enjoyable and yet educational evening at Vino Venue. For this special tasting event, the Queen of Burgundy, Madame Jean-Marie de Champs of Domaine et Saveurs, presents an exquisite collection of Burgundy wines. We started with a delicieux (sparkling) Crémant de Bourgogne, De Aureo Spirito from Montigny. From there Madame presented a Chablis…
Barrique: Wine, Design, & Social Change
As many times as I’ve visited the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, this weekend was my first time going to MoDA (Museum of Design Atlanta), which is crazy since it’s just across the street! I was there following an invitation posted by Friends of the High Museum of Art meetup group, as Saturday was the opening reception of Barrique: Wine, Design & Social Change. As many already know, you just say the word “Wine” and I’m there!
Roswell’s Historic District
Travel back in time here in Roswell’s historic district which features the old cotton mill (the largest in North Georgia in its day), old plantation homes, and one of the very first apartment complexes built in the United States. Self-guided tour booklets as well as civil war brochures are available at the Visitors Center.
Women & Wine on Wednesdays
To all the Mary Kay reps, wellness and fitness coaches, photographers, designers, writers, and any other business woman in the Atlanta area (sorry fellas…this event is for ladies only), this is a soirée you don’t want to miss!
