Fromage Tasting in Buckhead
The last time I had a cheese course like this was at Place Maubert in Paris’ Latin Quarter, at the Fromagerie Laurent Dubois. It was there that I had my first education of the various cheese regions of France, the different styles, flavors and wine pairings for each variety. Then came the Cheeses of Europe tasting event in Atlanta, and I felt like once again I was taking a journey through France.
“La Vache dans les Vignes” Wine Bar (10e)
Nestled along the lovely Canal St Martin sits La Vache dans les Vignes, a neighborhood wine bar specializing in boutique style wine and cheese pairings. The two friends who own the shop, the “wine guy” and the “cheese guy”, welcome you into this friendly atmosphere to enjoy a glass of wine and cheese or charcuterie plates, all while watching the passers-by.

Sometimes, before visiting a wine establishment, I will purposefully look for a few names on the Internet and do some research beforehand. Other times however, I just happen to stumble onto something really special, and tonight was one of those occasions.

Pain. Vin. Fromages (4e)
The aromas coming from Pain. Vin. Fromages, while literally about 1/2 a block away, are especially captivating and tempting to say the least. In fact, this is how I found the cozy family-style restau (as the French call restaurants) owned by two brothers in the Marais district.
