From Atlanta to la dolce vita!

Milano bound!

Personal onboard entertainment 🙂

So I’m finally here!…in Italy, one of my favorite places. I arrived yesterday after a long 9 hr flight. I have to say it was exciting being able to check-in at the brand new international terminal in Atlanta. It’s very modern, luxurious, and much quieter than the domestic side.

The flight itself was smooth and enjoyable. I recommend to everyone flying international to go ahead and book the Economy Comfort seats. They offer added leg-room, have seats that recline further back and my favorite feature- priority boarding which is especially nice for flights where there’s easily 200+ passengers on board.

Coming into Milan’s airport was a breeze. Signs are clearly marked both in Italian and in English, and many of the employees speak English. To continue onto the city centre, all you have to do is take the metro and you’re there in minutes!

The neighborhood I chose to stay in is Navigli, about a 15 minute tram ride from the city centre. While Navigli doesn’t offer all the glitz and glamour as does the Piazza del Duomo, it does offer a truer picture of Milanese culture as it is loaded with bakeries, gelaterias, cafes, pizzerias, etc. that are frequently mainly by locals.

The appartamento itself was great! I met the owners, Virginio & Nicoletta upon my arrival, who were both extremely nice and helpful. They gave Zoë a big warm welcome too :-). After they left, I went for shower, lunch and siesta. That’s one of the nice things about rentals. Hotels have a standard check-in time, usually in the afternoon, which is inconvenient when your flight arrives early morning, which most of them do. But when renting your own place, there’s the flexibility to check-in at anytime.

Well that’s all for now. Will keep you posted as I check out the Duomo, the fashion district, and nearby Torino.
