A Rainy Afternoon at Java Vino
One of my favorite pastimes while in Atlanta is going into Midtown. There, I’m able to experience art at the museums, listen to great music at the concert hall, learn French at Alliance Française, and especially, sit and relax with a glass of wine at indoor or outdoor spaces. Today, after meeting with a couple of friends for the Frida & Diego exhibit, I headed to Java Vino, a wine bar and coffee house only minutes away (by car) for a glass of Montepulciano.
I like coming here because it reminds me of a European style café. While not exactly the same, sitting by these huge windows, especially on a rainy day like today, reminds me of sitting at a Paris café looking through the glass as raindrops fall to the ground.
As I’m seated on the sofa admiring the colorful art on the walls, persons around me are on their Macbooks, catching up with one or two friends, reading the newspaper, or shuffling music on their iTunes. Servers behind the counter are preparing yummy dishes, tasty cheese plates and good aroma-filled coffee and tea. A true cafe in Atlanta!
The wine list is short and to the point. But at the same time, there’s something for everyone, and to keep things interesting, new wines are added every month. There’s also a wine lounge and a wine cellar available for events such as sommelier-hosted wine tastings held the first Thursdays of each month.
