Bordeauxthèque Paris

For those who are traveling to Paris, especially if you’re into wine, this place is not to be missed. La Bordeauxthèque is the wine cellar of Galeries Lafayette situated across the street (also not to be missed). It serves as a retailer as well as a wine museum featuring the most exclusive and sophisticated Grands Vins (1st class wines) of Bordeaux. Here you’ll see collector bottles with price tags of over 50,000 euros!

La Bordeauxthèque used to be housed at the main building of the Galeries Lafayette. It has since undergone major renovations and is now located above the Lafayette Gourmet just across the street from the main department store. This wine cellar is one of the most beautiful I have seen and no worries…while prestigious wines are certainly available for you to have at your next house party should you choose, there is a multitude of wines in normal price ranges to choose from as well. Whew! I was even able to find a nice bottle of bubbly for under 20 euros. And still among the reds, whites and rosés, there are plenty varieties to choose from that are much gentler to the wallet than the ones at 50,000+ euros, including prices under 20 euros. The staff here are very nice and helpful. Just mention the budget you’re looking to spend and they’ll point you in the right direction. Or…simply walk around and admire the beautiful interiors.
