My Favorite Champagne Bars in Paris

“La Grande Dame” Champagne Bar– 6 Avenue Frémiet – 75016 (PERMANENTLY CLOSED)

Just across from la Grande Dame, as the Eiffel Tower is affectionately called by Parisians, is “La Grande Dame” Champagne bar. Created by Shahé Kalaidjian, founder of the famous Sezz hotel in St-Tropez, the contemporary style bar sits inside the Hotel Sezz and features exclusively wines by the Veuve Clicquot brand. The name pays homage to both the famous Clicquot champagne cuvée as well as the Eiffel Tower which is ideally situated just across the Seine river. Open to the public. Just walk inside, say a friendly “bonjour” and grab a seat!

Le Dokhan– 117 rue de Lauriston, 75016- 16th arrondissement

Dim sum and Champagne? Why yes, please! That’s exactly what my friend Maria and I (whom I had just met a week prior in Dubrovnik by the way) had at Le Dokhan. This champagne bar, the first to open in the City of Light, is so elegant and inviting, one could be here for hours and hours just admiring the 18th century decor of what used to be a private mansion. A friendly sommelier is there to help offer recommendations among the fine quality selections, many of which are from smaller family-owned producers. I went for the flight which is sort of like a Champagne sampler that included a premier cru, a rosé, and a vintage Champagne. As a light fare, we both ordered  Dim Sum which was delicious and went well with the bubbly. At Le Dokhan, one can also enjoy tasting events and live music. This is a place I love and plan to revisit again and again!

Le Baudelaire– 8 Rue Duphot, 75001- 1st arrondissement

When I first heard about Le Baudelaire, I knew that this would be top on my to-visit list when in Paris. This Parisian Champagne and cocktail bar is known not only for its bubblies, but also for its prestigious Cognac selection. The setting is modern with comfortable seating that overlooks the street, a nice way to people watch from inside. Try the Champagne cocktails…amazing!
