A Random Encounter

Sometimes it can be a little tricky finding good spots to dine while traveling, especially in tourist areas where restaurants are often hit or miss. But today I came across this gem called Restaurant Casa while walking along the Lapad promenade. It looked inviting so I sat down.

I had the local oysters, chickpea biscuit, the summer salad made with endive, tomatoes, cucumbers, locally made olives and olive and oil, and freshly made cow cheese. The main course was the catch of the day which was sea bass caught locally just earlier that morning. The fillets were pan seared to perfection and were beyond delicious…exquisite in fact! For dessert it was olive cake, which sounds unusual but was very good. The texture was similar to cheesecake with a really nice crust and a good balance of sweet/ savory flavors. The wines were two white wine selections- Iuris from Slovenia for the oyster appetizer followed by Malvazija By Polesina for the main course. Both were very nice and complimented the dishes very well. Oh and and the views….magnificent!
