In-home Wine Tasting Series: Piemonte (Piedmont)
When most people think of Italian wine, the first thought that may come to mind is Tuscany. But did you know that besides Tuscany, Piemonte (Piedmont in English) is one of the most famous regions in Italy for wine production? The location is northern Italy, less than two hours southwest of Milan. Barbera, Nebbiolo, and Dolcetto for reds; Moscato, Arneis, and Cortese for whites, these are some of the grape varietals, just to name a few. I’m not sure if this is technically correct or not, but the style, especially the red wines remind me a little of Burgundy. 2007 Castello di Verduno Barbaresco, 2008 Mauro Sebaste Monvigliero Barolo, and 2011 Demarie Langhe Arneis Nebbiolo were some of the ones on the list for this event and were fabulous!
