Veuve Clicquot Champagne Event

Who doesn’t love a Champagne party?! The Summer Champagne Mixer is an annual social and fundraising event presented by the French American Chamber of Commerce (FACC) typically in the month of June. And no…you do NOT have to speak French to attend! Here you’ll find French hors d’oevures prepared by local artisans, a friendly mix of people, fine wines, a silent auction (includes bids for both domestic and international travels, wine packages, restaurants & luxury shopping), a celebration of French ¨art-de-vivre¨, and bien sûr (of course)… plenty of Champagne!

This year’s Champagne event was hosted by Roche Bobois Paris, a design showroom located in the heart of Buckhead, Atlanta. In addition to the Veuve bubbly, the night featured designs of Cédric Ragot, French designer who created the famous Loop Chair for Roche Bobois. Coincidentally, Ragot also created two packagings for Veuve Clicquot: an Insulated box for Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin Rosé in 2011 and the Naturally Clicquot in 2013.

I thought the space was perfect! It felt as if we were in someone’s home as there was plenty of comfy seating upstairs and downstairs, cocktail tables to set our drinks, a dining room for the Cognac tasting, and a rooftop with gorgeous views of the Buckhead skyline.

VIP Cognac Tasting…

Whenever I plan to attend a festival or event, I try to go for the VIP option if I can make it work, and in this case I am so glad that I did! The VIP tickets featured a Cognac tasting by Hennesey, which I LOVE Cognac! We tasted the VSOP, XO, and Paradis. We also learned about the Hennesey House in Cognac, France, and talked about how the glass in which Cognac is served changes the tasting experience. In fact, this was the first time that I smelled the fruittoast, and almond characteristics in Cognac because when at home or at a bar, I use a sniffer glass, which the shape of the sniffer does not allow for the aromas to express themselves as in a glass with a broader rim.

Mark your calendars for next year’s event. In the meantime, stay tuned for the Beaujolais Nouveau party taking place each November. To stay current with FACC happenings, simply visit the website and sign up for the newsletter or connect with FACC on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
