Champs Élysées: A Walk on the (Not-So) Wild Side
If you’ve ever been to the renown Champs Élysées in Paris, it is probable that you have little to no desire to return. For many visitors, this popular boulevard is one of those “list” items that people like to check off as having “been there” and “done that”. But the image most visitors leave with unfortunately is crazy traffic, noise, and thousands of people (mainly tourists) filling up the sidewalks and restaurants. The very thought of going back to that scene would cause anyone to feel well…tired.
But did you know Champs Élysées has a gentler side? While the main boulevard itself can be bustling with energy, several of the side and surrounding streets make for a pleasant stroll. Here are some of my favorites…
Rue Royale
Rue Faubourg St. Honoré
Allée Marcel Proust
Avenue Montaigne
Rue du Boccador (off of Av Montaigne)
Avenue George V
Avenue Franklin D. Roosevelt
For those who have never been to Champs Élysées or anyone, these are some stops I like to make…
Ladurée– the famous tea salon and bakery
Renault– concept car showroom with a nice café and bar upstairs
Sephora– one of the largest stores I’ve seen yet, plus France is Sephora’s home base as this is where the company started. You can visit the custom perfume counter where they create the perfect blend just for you!
