Frenchify Your Weekend chez Trader Joe’s

Flowers: If you’ve ever visited France, you may have noticed all the fleuristes (flower shops) in the local neighborhoods. Pourquoi (why)? Well the French have an appreciation for all things beautiful, including beautiful spaces. How about Frenchifying your kitchen or dining area with a bouquet of fresh flowers?

Le petit déjeuner (breakfast): Un café (coffee) or un thé (tea) s’il vous plaît, served alongside one of these breakfast staples- croissants, pain-au-chocolat, or Brioche French toast will transport you to a Parisian café!

Déjeuner (lunch): Enjoy some of your favorite bistro classics at home such as quiche Lorraine or soupe à l'oignon. For a refreshing beverage, try the French sparkling lemonade... c’est parfait!

French Apéro- whether I’m in France or sitting on my patio in Atlanta, the apéro is hands-down one of my favorite times of day.  Apéro (short for apéritif) is an essential part of French culture and basically is just a time during the day, usually an hour or two before dinner, where friends enjoy a convivial glass of wine and light snacks. Trader Joe’s has a number of items to include in your apéro hour such as French baguette, tapenade (spread this on your baguette), cheeses, charcuterie, paté, nuts, and fruit. For the wine, try a rosé from Provence or maybe even a bubbly.

Pour le dîner (for dinner): how about a salade verte (green salad) with vinaigrette dressing as the entrée (entrée in French means entry point/ starter), Tarte aux Champignons as the plat principal (main course) and comme dessert... pick up a box of assorted French macarons in the freezer section.

The French wine selections at Trader Joe’s include famous regions such as Bordeaux, Burgundy, Côtes du Rhône, the Loire Valley and beautiful Provence!
