Day Trip to the Archipelago
A highlight for me during this trip was a visit to Dubrovnik’s archipelago, the Elaphite islands. This is a group of islands situated to the northwest of Dubrovnik, the majority of them uninhabited. However, visitors have the opportunity to visit three of them- Lopud, Šipan, and Koločep and experience true Dalmatian island life. Pristine waters, sandy beaches, a 15th century Franciscan monastery, local cuisine, swimming in the crystal clear sea, free-flowing wine on the boat and lunch…a perfect day trip indeed!
These excursions are very easy to book and many companies offer them and also other tours by boat. If you want to reserve ahead (recommended during peak travel season in the summer) you can find them online through TripAdvisor or by doing a Google search (keywords- Dubrovnik boat tours, Elaphite islands, 3 island tour Dubrovnik). There are also the tourist information centers as well as independent kiosks located near Dubrovnik attractions that will be happy to help you book your trip.
